“Set my minds on things above, not on earthly things” Colossians 3:2
Last Year I was amazed by the “Messiah” that Handel composed. Before I listened to this concert, I never thought about Bible verses can be transformed into such a harmonious melody. Thanks for God’s creativity, his word was lively reappeared in front of me through music. It is incredible for the Bible to have prophecies, history, Poetry, and letters. I believe no one can write a book like this and each chapter points to the same leitmotiv via different depiction.
Another surprise would be going to Urbana conference. Most of the participants were Americans included Asian American and Latin American. I was excited because most of the Americans brought their own notebooks and dropped down the essentials of evangelism. I remembered this was a Hollywood writer who talked about a story of a pen. “We are just like pens. If a pen is on the ground, it cannot do anything. Unless someone picks this pen up and use it to write something, the value of this pen can be shown. God is the owner of these pens. We are stamped in God’s image so that we should know who we belong to.” He said. This story reminded me that we are fallen on the ground. Unless God saves us from this fallen world, we cannot leave the ground. I appreciated what he has said and this is a great example of depicting our life situation.
The biggest surprise was a testimony by a speaker who was willing to give up her tremendous salary and follow what God has guided her. Although she gave up her high-paid job, she couldn’t get into the ministry immediately. She then became a servant for cleaning somebody’s house. She was crying out why God led her to do miscellaneous things but not God’s works. In this unreasonable situation, she believed in God and was willing to pour out all she had because God provides. Think about myself, I couldn’t pour my 100% of what I had to God. I pray that God will give me that courage and focus just on him.
