My first harvest. Reap In Joy.

I met a girl named Carol at IFI Friday bible study. She is in the same group with me. On 11/16 is her second time coming to our group. After we finished the bible study I talked to her and asked what’s her plans for this weekends. She told me she plans to go to the Columbus Chinese Christian Church(4C). I said that is the church where I go on Sunday. She said she was trying to go last week but she was late so that she didn’t go. I told her we can go together. They have two worship sessions one is in the morning the other is in the afternoon which has more teenagers and students. She said she wanted to check out the morning session. Normally I only go to the afternoon one.

On Sunday, after finished the morning session we have a meal together in the church. I asked her how did she find this church. she said I just googled it. And I asked more questions about how you got interested in going to church and how you get to know Christians etc.

Then we attended the 1:30 Bible study. The topic was very sensitive and tough to talk. It was about homosexual. The pastor talked God hates sins but He loves sinners and something more. I was very worried Carol she may feel uncomfortable about this topic. After the class, I asked how she thinks about this contents. She said she thought the pastor spoke pretty good. I felt amazed.

At 3 o’clock we attended the afternoon session. During the worship, I felt the Spirit spoke to me telling me to do the sinner prayers with Carol. I felt so surprised and terrified. I have never lead anyone to do the sinner prayer before and I have no preparation for this. I can’t do it well. I keep having thoughts about she is ready for this.

I prayed to God to give me courage and wisdom. I was afraid to ask Carol does she want to do the sinner prayer with me. However, I checked it out online how to do the sinner prayers. After finished the worship, I asked her. Surprisingly, she agreed with me with no doubt. God really brings his people to Him. John 10:27 says “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” I said one sentence then she repeated with me one by one. When we finished I told her I am so happy we are family now. She told she felt very joyful too.

Now, we are a good friend and today I just celebrated her birthday together. I hope I can help her to grow her faith and to have a closer relationship with God. I am really glad that I can be part of God’s work and I am really joyful that I can witness this process. I think sometimes we need to listen and pay more attention to people how they react to God’s word. God may already put His sheep around you and you just need to take that step and lead them home.
