Illuminated X September X Inspired
There are two memorable things I have learned in September. The first one is DBS(Discovery Bible Study). I started to learn to ask valuable questions and allow students to think about God’s words. The crucial part is letting Holy Spirit working through their heart. DBS accompany with the benefit of reproducing the same method in different languages. That means international students can use DBS to tell the gospel in their heart language. Therefore, we need to leverage this tool to help students have a better understanding of the Holy Bible.
The second thing that impressed me is Rich’s speech of presenting the value of telling fascinating stories. From retelling the Bible story, I understood that sometimes we might miss important details when we read the Bible story for the first time. Thus, we have to read and retell the story in order to keep God’s words in mind. It is really helpful to me not only remembering God’s words but also knowing the sequence of each event. I never had this mindset before. In my previous perspective, I must learn enough history and scientific method so that I can use those references to prove that God is the only one. However, telling a story is easier for students to accept a new concept without offending them. It is because students may discover the truth through their thinking. That’s the reason why Jesus was always telling stories. How wise and wonderful he is.
