For many students, going to a foreign school in the midst of a pandemic is a nonstarter, but not for Elijah. He arrived in the US from Nigeria a couple of months ago to pursue his Master’s degree in law. “I have always prayed to God to order my steps to the right people in the city, especially those who follow Jesus,” he said.

During the first few days here, Elijah started trying to find his way around the campus and city on his own. As an added difficulty, the cold weather was much different than what he was used to in Africa. Then a friend of Elijah told him about how God had used an organization called IFI to help some friends settle in. After getting connected with Bill Erickson, the IFI city director involved with the campus, Elijah has received great help in settling in!

“This has helped in building my trust in God for greater things ahead.”

“My first contact with IFI is a proof of God’s love and provision,” says Elijah. “God provided my basic needs just a few days after my arrival. It’s so amazing how God always goes ahead of His children in a strange land. Before and during my transit to the US, I had the trust that God will come through for me, but I never knew how He was going to do that. I didn’t know that He had prepared IFI as a platform to fulfill His promise in Philippians 4:19 – ‘For my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory through Christ our Lord.’”

Now Elijah wants to help IFI welcome other international students with the same love that he has received. “I want to be part of what God is doing through IFI in any little way that I can.”
