Meet the Staff - Art & Kristen Wells

Since their college years, Art and Kristen have been serving Jesus at The Ohio State University, striving to know Christ and to make Him known. Art began following Jesus as a high school student in 1997, and Kristen committed her life to Jesus while at Ohio State in 2001. As university students, each had the privilege of having another believer make a long-term personal investment in their spiritual growth and ministry training. After graduation, Art was employed on campus at the Ornamental Plant Germplasm Center, and Kristen pursued her master’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences. They continued to serve together as campus ministry teammates with Students for Christ.

In 2005, Art began reaching out to international students, trusting in God’s promises regarding people from nations with little exposure to the gospel, that they would be drawn to Jesus - “For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not heard, they will understand” (Isaiah 52:15). Seeking an environment to demonstrate God’s love for the nations, he contacted International Friendships and found a variety of ways to get involved. In 2006, Kristen also joined in this work as God provided further direction for her in life and ministry. They married in 2007, sharing a vision to help unreached people come to know Jesus, become established their faith, and equip them to do the same with others.

Art and Kristen attended the Urbana ‘06 missions conference, took the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement course, and consulted with personal contacts in other ministries to grow in their understanding of how to effectively reach the nations for Christ. As the leading of Jesus became clearer and ministry opportunities continued to increase, they joined the International Friendships campus ministry staff in December 2009. Keeping a vision for reaching the world and maintaining a focus on the individual, they seek to do as Jesus commanded: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” They will fill a special role in developing a focused ministry to undergraduate international students. They also look forward to the training they will receive for bringing international student ministries to other university campuses. Art and Kristen are still in the process of funding their ministry and would greatly appreciate your prayers and financial support.
