Tour of Columbus and Meal in Homes

Tour Columbus IFIHelp show new international students, scholars, and their families what makes Columbus special. One Saturday every fall, IFI volunteers drive, point out the sites, and share a meal in their homes with new internationals at OSU. After a short orientation in which volunteer drivers are provided a tour map with detailed directions, students load into cars and the groups set out on the tour individually. Scheduled stops along the tour include Goodale Park, a tour of the Statehouse, a bird’s eye view of the city from the top of the Rhodes Tower, the Santa Maria replica, the topiary garden at the Deaf School Park, German Village, and much more. After the tour, drivers and students join other IFI volunteers for lunch in host homes.

Downtown Columbus, OHThe tour is a fantastic opportunity to show Christian love and build friendships with international students. Many of the students that participate have never before interacted with Christians or even visited an American home. Volunteers are needed to drive students, help drivers navigate and read the tour script, open up their homes for lunch, and provide food.

This year’s tour and lunch in homes will be Saturday, October 17 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. The tour portion will be from 11:00am to 2:00pm, and the lunch in homes will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
